Onion Seeds - Bunching - Ishikura Winter Long. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Allium fistulosum. 40-60 days. Cool season annual. A vigorous and hardy winter variety, this bunching onion has a 15-17" long white stalk with 12" long green leaves. They are hollow and have an excellent, mild flavor. It is frost tolerant, pest resistant, and bred to grow well in most areas. Good for microgreens. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in a sunny location in late spring after danger of all frost is passed and when soil temperatures are consistently above 50° or fall. Keep soil moist and fertilize as needed. Longer white stems can be achieved by mounding earth up over the stems to blanch them. Bunching onions may be harvested at any stage, from microgreen to full maturity. Prepare fresh or cooked. Use in fried and grilled dishes, in o-konomi-yaki pancakes, and sukiyaki. Can be boiled and served with miso dressing. Approximately 8375 seeds an ounce.
